Do a proper oral cleansing

A proper oral cleansing post waking up is a health requirement.

We recommend natural products, but unfortunately, there isn't a true natural toothbrush. So use a general toothbrush but dispose it well.

Change your toothbrush every three months. There is no point brushing your teeth with a brush that isn't a brush any more. A brand new ₹20 tooth brush will do you more good than an old disfigured expensive toothbrush.

Clean your tongue properly. Stick out your tongue: if you see a white, off white or yellowish layer, it needs cleaning. The tongue cleaner on the back of your tooth brush will not clean your tongue properly. So buy a proper tongue cleaner, that scrapes the layer.

If for some reason, you do not have access to your oral care tools, use your fingers and some charcoal, or a petiole to brush. Use the midrib of a coconut or palm leaf to clean your tongue. These alternatives work so well that they can be your primary oral tools if you choose to, much like our great grand parents did.

Rinse your mouth properly off the toothpaste or tooth powder used. They aren't toxic, but the compounds in them — whether natural or synthetic — can burn the inside of your mouth.

If you are a non-vegetarian, and if you have forgotten to floss your teeth the previous night, do it as your morning rituals. Better late than sorry.
