Don't check your phone when you wake up

Unless you have acquried mastery over your habits, or need to check something indispensable to your life at that moment, don't check your phone when you wake up — not even to check the time.

If you are on a consistent sleep cycle, you will know what time it is, because you would have woken up on a consistent time. If, on the other hand, you are not on a natural sleep cycle, then you have broken your discipline and therefore you might succumb to the forces of your phone's design (discussed next). So don't check time on your phone when you wake up, and instead use a wall clock or a table clock.

Phone are interactive devices that are designed by professionals using scientific evidence with one goal — to please your brain. This is why people get addicted to phones, laptops or any other interactive devices.

The few hours after you wake up are the best time for you to engage in any productive activity like meditation, study or work. If you feed your brain with screen time at this receptive state, you are starting your day with an exposure to an addictive element that can strengthen your addiction than when exposed at any other time.

Secondly, this screen time exposure will most likely interfere with the productive work you wish to engage during the early hours. So, don't feed yourself negatives.
